Morning Prayer
Loving heavenly father as I rise this morning I thank and praise you that I have been raised with Christ and that through him I am reconciled with you, by Jesus making peace through his blood shed on the cross. Lord help me to set my heart and mind on things above, where Christ is, and not on earthly things.
Lord today help me to live in the reality that I am chosen, holy and dearly loved by you, enable me to put on the new self and become more like Jesus.
Give me a deep desire to put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, to bear with others and forgive as Jesus powerfully forgave me. May those who see me see these and let my life be a witness to your work, power and love.
Over all these virtues help me to put on love, which binds them, and our church, all together in perfect unity and let the peace of Christ rule in my hearts. Let thankfulness be the song of my heart.
Let the word of Christ dwell in me richly give me and our faith community, the humility, strength and wisdom to teach and admonish one another, actively discipling one another.
Lord as I pray all of this, I am aware of the spiritual battle that rages around and within me. Help me to put on the full armour of God so that I can take my stand against the devil’s schemes, who wants to stop me walking with you. Let me stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around my waist, breastplate of righteousness in place and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Thank you that I can take up the shield of faith, which can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, help me to hold it firmly, with the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, let your Spirit work powerfully with me, and Lord give me a heart of prayer, praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Keep me alert and always praying for all the saints.
Lord God, in whatever I do, whether in word or deed, help me to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. So that I may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that I may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified me to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
In Jesus name I pray. Amen
Thank you Stephen and Praise The Lord for this prayer which will help build me up for the days ahead.
